Garden Design Planning

Whether you're looking to renovate your entire garden or simply want some guidance on how to plant a small area, we can help. Our garden design planning service is tailored to your specific needs and goals. We'll work closely with you to understand your vision and preferences, and then create a bespoke design that meets your requirements.

During our process, we'll visit your garden to conduct a site survey, taking measurements, sampling soil, and taking account of everything that may affect the final design. We'll also meet with you to discuss your "brief", identifying exactly what you would like from your garden. This may involve looking at brochures, images, and gardens we've designed in the past. We may also use a Pinterest board to help visualize your ideas.

From there, we'll create concept plans based on your wishes and the site survey, providing layout options for you to choose from. Once you've selected your preferred layout, we'll create a final, detailed plan with dimensions, landscape specifications, and any other necessary information.

Border Planting & Design

Plants are the heart of a good garden, providing colour, texture, and interest all year round. Our border planting and design service is all about creating a beautiful and functional planting scheme that suits your specific needs and preferences.

We'll work with you to discuss your project, understanding what you like and dislike about your current border, and what you'd like to change. We'll then survey your border, identifying plants that could stay or be re-used, and those that might need to be replaced. We'll also note any problems in the border that need to be overcome.

Using this information, we'll create a planting design sketch of your border, with all plants positioned and named in full. You can also ask for detailed instructions on how to prepare your border for re-planting and how to plant yourself, along with a care calendar. Alternatively, we can clear and plant up the border for you.

Garden Advice & Consultation

As an experienced and knowledgeable horticulturalist and garden designer, I can help with specific problems or areas in your garden. Our advice can cover a range of topics, including pruning, dealing with plant problems, gardening sustainably, and attracting wildlife.

Our costs for advice are charged on an hourly basis and may include a visit to your garden or easy-to-follow instruction pack. Alternatively, we may be able to come and sort out the problem for you.

I've had the privilege of working in this industry for over 20 years, nurturing people and plants in colleges, communities, schools, and botanic gardens. I'm also a national examiner working with the Royal Horticultural Society Qualifications.
